Mutual Friends

twonly protects your privacy: We never ask for your phone number or access to your address book. To help you find friends who already use twonly, we have developed a privacy-friendly protocol.

Privacy through "Mutual Friends"

Unlike other apps, we never upload your contact list to our servers. Instead, information is encrypted so that it only becomes visible to people with whom you have enough mutual friends.

This ensures that:

You Stay in Control

In the settings, you have a full overview at all times. You can decide for each contact individually:

How it works (simplified)

When you use this feature, encrypted "puzzle pieces" of your profile are distributed to your friends. Only when someone has collected enough of these puzzle pieces through various mutual friends can the app suggest you as a friend. You can set how many of these puzzle pieces (i.e., mutual friends) are required in the settings.
